It is seeing a revival due to a desire to be green. But this is just a fad. Like the original era of BEVs, it will fade away or disappear. MYELECTRICSPARKSToyota is testing 10 hydrogen-powered Hilux prototypes using technology from the Mirai. These FCEV prototypes feature three hydrogen tanks, a fuel cell, a battery, and an electric motor driving the rear wheels, offering a 373-mile range. Built-in the UK, the trucks will undergo field testing and demonstrations, including at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. By now, its own electric Hyundai siblings are topping up almost as fast. It does, however, fuel up faster - 5 minutes or so to fill the hydrogen tank, afterwards the hydrogen station needs 10-15 minutes to compress the gas for the next customer.
