Or, to be honest: I was also slightly under-prepared for the <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/recording" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#recording</a> session. I had entered my Mixbus 10 Pro license key and it had swallowed it. But then when I loaded the backing tracks into it, it played this random demo mode noise. Okay, things may happen, but since the producer/songwriter and her double bass player were ready to rumble, I didn't have any time to get this fixed.So what to do? Obviously: Start up <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Ardour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ardour</a> and get the recording done. Ardour as a <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/DAW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DAW</a> on an old <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/MacBook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MacBook</a> 2017 running <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Monterey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Monterey</a> still, with an <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/RME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RME</a> <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Fireface400" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fireface400</a> via a stupid adapter chain to Thunderbolt3… what can you say about it? Well, I can say: We had a 5hr recording session without any hickups – technically counting 30 takes.Why <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/OSX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OSX</a> anyways? Only one reason: <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Totalmix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Totalmix</a> instead of <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/ffadomixer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ffadomixer</a>. I do all mixing on <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Linux</a> with Mixbus. NielsoAh, <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Harrison" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Harrison</a> <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Mixbus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Mixbus</a> 10 Pro on an elderly <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/OSX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OSX</a>, works out of the box, such a good <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/DAW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DAW</a>. The license is personal. So you can install Mixbus on any of your machines if you and only you are using it. I really hope Harrison will stick to this policy.Because actually if I really do just the tracking on OSX, I use <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Ardour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ardour</a> instead anways.It took me longer to find out how to do a screen shot on OSX than to install Mixbus.Now let's see what if the <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/RME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RME</a> <a href="https://digitalcourage.social/tags/Fireface400" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fireface400</a> still likes me.EDIT: Oh yes, the Fireface400, with this stupid chain of adapters from Thunderbolt3 down to Firewire 400, still works. What however went bad is these two solemn USB-C/Thunderbolt connectors on the MacBook. Loose contact on both. And there's no other connectors. Let's see what poisonous Kontakt60 spray can do.😈
