I received a wonderful postcard from Kalajoki, Finland today. Love the springtime artwork!

Germany and America let (post-Soviet) Russia believe there would be no NATO expansion. Also let Ukraine believe they would be protected. Ukraine should have kept a few warheads. Many of them were built in Ukraine so there would be retired people who knew which wires to cross to bypass any safeties, if it came to that.

Planning a trip to #Finland in early August. Looking for accommodation (3 adults & 5 nights) in or near #Tampere that is within public transport reach.

Are there any local or national holiday rental portals that you can recommend? Or listings pages for summer houses? Places you know?

I want to avoid big US-owned brokers like booking.com or #airBnB. I'm not using any of the various #Meta platforms (no FB, Insta or WhatsApp groups, please).

And my candidate got through, for the first time! Yeehaa. Congrats, Paco Diop!

Relating: when checking the results, I noticed that my party Vasemmistoliitto (”The #Left Union") has the highest amount of immigrants in the new city council group. Both percentage-wise and in absolute numbers: three. This either a) is great news or b) tells something about latent #racism in #Finland.

I ’ll pick a) for now.
