Labor Notes · Kentucky Unions Stand Up to Halt Deportation of Two Hundred WorkersTwo hundred union workers, out of 5,700 who assemble dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, and dryers for GE Appliances-Haier at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, received notice this month that the Trump administration is revoking their work authorizations. The immigrant workers from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Venezuela have received a mixed reaction to their imminent deportation—hostility from some co-workers and an outpouring of support from their union and the local labor movement. They’re part of the Communications Workers’ industrial division, IUE-CWA Local 83761.

Feeling really grateful right now that our home has not been affected by the catastrophic #flooding in Kentucky. These are photos I just pulled from the #Louisville Reddit

pic. Schools were closed today and will be again tomorrow because so many streets are flooded. The river is not expected to crest until Wednesday. 😬

Lt. Caleb Stewart is a monster with a hard-on for abusing people who can't fight back. Like a woman in premature labor. Dude cheered himself for yelling at her while she went into premature labor, and giving her a citation for being unhoused.
Turns out Lt. Caleb Stewart is a big fan of harassing unhoused people. This is what fascism looks like, y'all. The #Louisville, #KY police department, rather than hanging their heads in shame and begging for forgiveness, doubled down on what a good special boy Stewart is, and how much more important it is that he be cruel to poor people, than them solving the more than 400 violent crimes that haven't been investigated.

Labor Notes · In Louisville, 5,200 GE Appliance Workers Gear Up for a FightHundreds of workers who make dishwashers, refrigerators, washers and dryers, and other home appliances at GE Appliances in Louisville, Kentucky, rallied September 14 ahead of contract negotiations. Their contract, covering 5,200 workers, expires at the end of the year. This plant complex, known as Appliance Park, is the only one unionized of nine GE Appliances manufacturing sites across the country and is its global headquarters. The union is part of the industrial division of the Communications Workers; bargaining starts October 14.
