Das Upgrade-Angebot etwa von Ubuntu 24.10 auf 25.04 führte auf diversen Systemen zu teils massiven Problemen. Daher hat Ubuntu das Upgrade nun temporär gestoppt, bis die Probleme behoben sind.

Over the last couple days I’ve been setting up the #kubuntu Plucky beta release on an external drive on my main workstation. Today I worked the entire day on Linux instead of Windows. Pretty much all my tools work exactly the same as before, but the thing that stood out the most - the speed of git. Changing branches is instant, it’s amazing. I was sure it wasn’t doing anything at first.

Heute habe ich bewusst mal gänzlich unbedarft zwei Linux-Ausgaben ausprobiert.
Ziel: Firefox mit KeePassXC-Integration, Thunderbird, Libre Office zum Laufen bringen.
Spoiler: Schwierig, und jede Distribution hat ihre Eigenheiten.
Erst Kubuntu: Siehe zuerst das vom Morgen.

Firefox mit KeepassXC ging nicht, obwohl es eigentlich gehen müsste, auch mit der Snap-Version. Die Snap-Version rauszuoperiern und durch eine «normale» zu Ersetzen gelang erst mal nicht.
NumLock am Anmeldebildschirm brachte ich auch mit etwas 8 verschiedenen Tipps aus Suchen nicht zum Laufen. Vielleicht habe ich nun Einen Ansatz aus Fedora: Da lässt sich die Einstellung (Zahlen-Feststelltaste) aus KDE/Plasma auf den Anmeldebildschirm (SSDM) (Breeze oder Breeze Fedora) übertragen.
Der Lese- und Schreibzugriff auf Windows-Partitionen gelang sofort, eine Eingriffe. Ich war überrascht.
Genervt vom NumLock-Problem gab ich erst mal auf. (1/3)
Bahn.SocialDaniel (@jetztdochau@bahn.social)Hallo von Kubuntu 24.10! Linux macht es mir weiterhin nicht leicht. Vier Hindernisse für Endanwendys wurden mir gleich schon mal in den Weg gelegt:

Sprachauswahl verwirrend, z.B.
Deutsch - Deutschland usw., aber:
Österreichisches Deutsch,
Schweizer Hochdeutsch und ähnliches,
mit entsprechender Sortierung

Die Installation lief wohl durch, blieb aber am Schluss hängen, ich musste manuell neustarten.
③
Die Tastaturauswahl war sehr verwirrend, ich griff wohl daneben und bekam eine englische Standardtastatur voreingestellt.
④
KeePassXC wollte nicht laufen mit Firefox Snap, also per Konsole den Firefox angeblich durch die Version direkt von Mozilla ersetzt. Tja, ging weiterhin nicht.
Also Firefox als Paket heruntergeladen: Geht! Irgendwas stimmt noch nicht mit der installierten Version.
⑤ Bonus, systemunabhängig
Ich hasse NumLock standardmässig aus, auch unter Linux! Das wird das Nächste, was ich versuche zu ändern.
Dann sehe ich weiter. Hauptsache mal ein Browser mit KeePassXC.
Mit dem Umstieg von Windows auf das Linuverse mehr als zufrieden...

It's not an essential feature, however I'm accustomed to it, so Kubuntu might be an option.
I didn't include these two distros in the poll because my experience with them is so outdated (I toyed with OpenSUSE, maybe on PowerPC, around two decades ago …).

In der letzten Woche hat #KDE-Entwickler David #Edmundson einen Vorschlag für einen neuen Plasma-Log-in-Manager vorgelegt, der langfristig #SDDM ablösen soll.
#SDDM übernimmt
SDDM, der Simple Desktop Display Manager, erschien erstmals 2013 und wurde zunächst in #Fedora 21 integriert und später von #Kubuntu übernommen.

Je suis bluffé par la facilité avec laquelle Kubuntu s'est installé sur ce MacBook Pro de fin 2011 exhumé des armoires de notre service d'intendance. Cette machine n'avait pas été allumée depuis 2014, est repartie comme un charme, mais avec un macOS impossible à mettre à jour.
Deux heures plus tard, voici une machine prête à l'emploi, disponible pour les élèves en cas de besoin.

By the way, it's the same with computer operating systems. Most people believe they have only two or three choices. That commercial software which is all geared towards mining users is the only one possible.
No, it isn't. There are dozens of free, community operating systems.
Many of them can be combined, their components are compatible.

Io avevo trovato il mio zen con #Kubuntu (che di fatto è Ubuntu + KDE che io adoro), ma questa notizia mi sconvolge, significa dover ricominciare tutto da capo con un'altra distro 
Bisogna vedere se questa storia non creerà un precedente, secondo me è molto grave, ma è passata quasi sotto silenzio nel mondo Linux e la cosa forse è ancora più inquietante...
