am still watching pre-code movies, particularly movies around 1928 the year Jazz Man came out and talkies became a thing.

one thing i’ve noticed are the big PATENT NOTICES at the beginning of talkies. that has made me wonder: i have not noticed patent notices at the beginning of silent movies.

so i ask: is this why there were a fuckton of independent silent film makers? did sound film #patents help concentrate power into the Hollywood studios monopsony?

Yes: respond to #USA breach of trade deals (imposition of import tarriffs), by revoking #Monopoly #Patent and #Copyright for #USA corporations, to the benefit of one's own country.

#IntellectualTheft (monopolies on culture) keeps medicine from the poor, keeps education from the needy, keeps science from those who will benefit. Now the trade deals are violated, no need to continue protecting USA #Corporation #rentier profits.

This is a great idea, I would love to see #Australia do this also.

Ironically, this article arguing for the social benefits of free use of information, is not on the open web (it's locked behind a login-wall).

Ist das Verfahren / Verwendung patentiert, oder nur die Geräte, also die Chips? Wenn nur die Chips dann mit dem Kauf der Chip habe ich danach freie Nutzung, oder?

Aber wenn das Verfahren / Verwendung Schutz hat, ist vielleicht selbst die kommerzielle Verwendung der gekaufte Chip ein Verletzung?

Mathematik kann man im Allgemeinen nicht patentieren. Ein paar Gründe aus denen solche Patente abgelehnt wurden sind, z.B., dass ein mathematischer Beweis nur eine Liste von Fakten ist, und Fakten sind nicht patentierbar.

Gemeinhin sind nur technische Erfindungen patentierbar und keine Naturerscheinungen. Eine mathematische Formel wie E=mc² ist nicht patentierbar, obwohl viel kreative Arbeit da hineinging, sie zu finden. 1/4
